Title - Plug and Play  Scalability & Performance Solution

Abstract - Information runs today’s business.  Customers, employees and real time applications rely more and more on the content of the DB’s.  As the demand on the DB’s continue to increase, IT’s, developers and system architects search for ways to maintain Performance levels and Response Time during heavy loads or Peaks, without major investment in infrastructure nor modification of the applications/DB.

Established in 2007, SafePeak Technologies is a privately held company. It is led by an experienced management team and backed by leading investors.

SafePeak Technologies, a leading company in the area of performance and scalability of enterprise application systems, developed a pioneering solution that gives instant acceleration of performance and scalability of existing information applications and systems. Specifically, SafePeak is an industry first automated in-memory dynamic caching solution, that boosts speed of data access to microsecond speed, while has a seamless integration that requires no code changes on application and database levels (Plug & Play).

SafePeak installations accelerate Web Servers, E-commerce portals, Document Management, CRM, ERP and other enterprise applications.

SafePeak works with well established partners creating a global reselling channel network for distribution and support of SafePeak solutions in different local markets. Partners from USA, Europe and Asia Pacific are already providing local reselling and support service.

Title - SQL Server Transactional Replication - Advanced Features, Scripting, Source Safe and more

Abstract - Replication is one of the important Microsoft SQL Server features for many companies.  However, very often I see many DBAs and Developers maintaining replication through the GUI.  This makes it harder to standardize the deployment and even harder to automate it.  In our environment we have a number of special requirements to maintain replication, such as special indexes on the subscribers, supporting republishing replication (AKA, Publishing Subscriber) and most important, keeping all code in Source Safe.  So, I’d like to share what I have done with my current company with a lot help from my colleagues.  Hopefully these lessons learned will help other DBAs or I can get great feedback from you on our approach, so that I can apply your lessons learned, to my current process.

Title - Programming with the SQLCLR in SQL Server

Abstract - SQL Server provides the capability to run .Net code right inside SQL Server Engine on a par with T-SQL in what’s called the SQLCLR.  This gives the programmer an expanded choice of programming language and some new object types. This presentation shows you how to write C# or VB.Net routines and execute them in SQL Server as one of the supported SQL object types:

  • Stored Procedure

  • Scalar or Table User-defined Function

  • Trigger

  • User-defined Aggregate

  • User-defined Type

Each of these objects has its own requirements and opportunities.

Using the SQLCLR as opposed to T-SQL has tradeoffs and we’ll examine when T-SQL is better and when using SQLCLR is best.  We’ll also take a look at error handling and performance comparisons between T-SQL code and similar .Net code.

Bio - Andy Novick is a SQL Server Developer in the Boston area with 25 years of database and application development experience.

Title - Introduction to SQL Trace

Abstract - While many DBAs are familiar with SQL Server Profiler, they are not familiar with SQL Trace. Very briefly, SQL Trace allows you to capture Profiler traces using system stored procedures, without the extra overhead of using the Profiler GUI, helping to minimize the amount of resources used for capturing traces.

In this session you will learn: What is SQL Trace; The Pros and Cons of Using SQL Trace; How SQL Trace Works; What are the SQL Trace System Stored Procedures; How to Create Your Own SQL Trace Script; How to Query Trace Data Directly From a Trace File; and How to use the SQL Server Profiler GUI to Automatically Write SQL Trace Scripts.

This session is filled with demonstrations, and assumes attendees have a basic understanding of how to use Profiler. After attending the session, attendees will be able to return to work and immediately put what they have learned into practice.

Bio - Brad M. McGehee is the Director of DBA Education for Red Gate Software, an accomplished Microsoft SQL Server MVP with over 15 years’ SQL Server experience, over 6 years’ training experience, and has been involved in the industry since 1982.
